How to work with employment agencies?
Getting in touch with employment agencies and looking at job sites can be a great start of your job search in The Netherlands.
It can give you an overview of the market landscape and it might give you an impression of your chances of landing a job in The Netherlands.
You can contact one or multiple employment agencies listed above, based on your own preferences and professional background.
Be prepared to answer questions about the role you’re looking for and your own professional experience.
Next, they will inform you if they have jobs available and start the search for you.
Make sure you have an updated resume when you start approaching employment agencies.
Here’s a video from my online course where I tell you how to best work with recruitment agencies:
What if I can't find work through an employment agency?
Agencies are focused on filling jobs as fast as possible. They get paid when they hire someone at a company. This works great if you have the right experience and they happen to have a suiting job for you.
But what if you don’t know how to interview? If you don’t have the right resume? Lack the relevant experience?
There’s little to no room for people that don’t have the right resume or experience yet. It’s also harder to find a job through an employment agency if you’re not based in The Netherlands or need Visa sponsorship.
If you’re looking to really upskill your job search, improve your resume, cover letter, interviewing or negotiating skills then the way to go is a 1:1 career coach.
