Your resume, or CV, is one of the most important documents in your job search. Without a good resume there’s little chance you get invited for interviews. Now you’re looking for a job in The Netherlands and are wondering how a good Dutch CV looks like..You came to the right place!
Netherlands CV Format
Did you know that only 2% of job applicants actually land an interview? Sometimes even less! Using the wrong resume and cover letter will make a recruiter click straight on the ‘rejection’ button. So how does a good CV format in The Netherlands look like?
As Dutch recruiter for many international companies in The Netherlands I can tell you the following:
- Don’t make your resume more than 2 pages. In most cases 1 page is enough!
- Focus on actionable results. Avoid vague descriptions. Instead mention numbers and percentages. Remember the Dutch are direct and to the point!
- I would not recommend to put a picture in a resume to avoid prejudices

- Contact details
- Professional profile
- Work experience
- Education and certifications
- Skills
- Languages

I would only add a photo if you’re applying for jobs where you appearance is important such as working as a host or hostess.
