You’re stuck in your career and looking to get some outsider help. You’re looking to land a new job, but you don’t get invited to interviews. You’re not sure how to negotiate a job offer. There’s many reasons why people work with career coaches.
I’m big fan of working with coaches and mentors as it accelerates your learning. You get faster to where you want to be. To me nothing if more valuable than having someone next to you that supports you in your career journey.
Maybe you’re wondering if working with a career coach is something for you. Or why you can’t just simply call a recruitment agency with your questions. Read my thoughts on this here:
Why work with a career coach in The Netherlands?
Many people keep doing the same thing over and over again, while expecting different results.
A career coach can speed up your progress. See your patterns, obstacles and what’s holding you back.
Let’s translate this to your job search: you send out your resume, wait for a response and nothing happens. The next day you do the same thing: send out your resume, wait for a response and nothing happens.
Sometimes you need a pattern interruption! Someone who is not afraid to tell you what’s holding you back. Someone who has the experience to support from where you are now to where you want to go.
The difference between a recruitment agency and a career coach
Why work with a career coach if I can also just call a recruitment agency to help me find a job?
If this works for you, great! But what if these recruitment agencies don’t have the right job for you? What if you don’t have the right experience? What if you never hear back from them?
Chances are you won’t, because recruitment agencies are focused on filling jobs as fast as possible. They get paid when they hire someone at a company. That means there’s little room for people that don’t have the right resume yet, lack relevant experience, aren’t based in The Netherlands, need Visa sponsorship etc.
Of course there are chances that they have the right job waiting for you that matches your skills and experience, but if they don’t you start back from scratch again.
In the meantime there is no improvement in your resume, cover letter or interviewing skills. You don’t know what you’re doing wrong in your job search and you’re missing a tailor made approach.
Is this you?
Wondering if working with a career coach is something for you? If you’re stuck in your job search and looking for someone to help you get on the right track..a career coaching might be the answer!
